Special Purpose

MBA's portfolio showcases our expertise in unique and challenging special purpose projects, where innovative techniques and materials are key. A notable example is our work with engineered glue laminated timber (GLT) on several projects, including the standout Western Australian Maritime Museum in Fremantle. This project, which housed the iconic ‘Australia II’ yacht, required inventive solutions for high wind loading conditions. Our team successfully created virtually invisible joints in the structure's massive twin beams, using epoxy-embedded high-strength reinforcing bars and steel plates. This approach not only met the project's technical demands but also maintained aesthetic integrity.
